Starting off in Lima we were spoilt for choice as we had over 100 Inca Terns nesting near our hotel with Belcher's Gull and Peruvian Booby offshore or a few blocks away, both Amazilia and Oasis Hummingbird in the trees and Peruvian Meadowlarks in the grasslands. Once into the Amazon we were treated to some of the most spectacular birds in South America including Hoatzin, Scarlet Macaw, Agami and Rufescent Tiger Herons, Pavonine Cuckoo, Long-billed Woodcreeper and Plum-throated Cotinga to name but a few.
