Texas Spring Migration: April 2005

A two-week trip with my wife Jill, Simon Buckingham and Howard Jolliffe, which concentrated on the upper Texas coast and the Lower Rio Grande Valley. My personal highlights ‘down south’ included Golden-cheeked Warbler, Black-capped Vireo, Green Jay, Altamira Oriole and a stunning Crimson-collared Grosbeak. Highlights on the upper coast included Yellow Rail, a flock of 50 Buff-breasted Sandpipers and 6 male Blackburnian Warblers.
